this is a Blast Fed Disaster stuffed into a joystick. the design is an elaboration of Forrest M. Mims III's stepped tone generator, which is also commonly referred to as the Atari Punk Console which i built into an old atari joystick a while back. this new version has far more potential for sound creation, from quantized synth notes to harsh variable digital static.

the controls are like this. the two knobs on the shaft are the two course controls for the main pitch and modulation rate which now has a huge range. the joystick itself is the fine control for those respectively and will travel about 15% of the total pitch range which covers more then 3-4 octaves. the trigger button will trigger the synth on and off and the thumb button is a pattern inducing bend. traveling clockwise on the base from the far left is the power switch, then the pulse width control for one oscillator, then a bend control that will turn that oscillator from squarewave to static, then the center knob is the master volume which starts to sound like a bit of a high pass at lower levels. then the other shape bend knob for the other oscillator - from squarewave to static again, then the other pulse width control, and then the back knob is the starve pot which together with the pattern thumb button can get some very interesting things going. then on the left and right side are two 3.5mm control voltage inputs to control the rate of each oscillator. sorry they are 3.5mm i didn't have any room for 1/4" in there, and i ran out of the external 1/4" jacks that i used for the main out. so it was either this or nothing at all.

these samples are just me hitting record and messing around in an attempt the show you the full range of options. they are all from one single pass that i just cut up into segments. no effects or editing was done to anything at all. people that make samples with reverb or delay are fucking morons that are trying to hide or exaggerate their results.
