SIMPLE RESONANT LOW PASS FILTER
|

VOLTAGE
to RESISTANCE
here is a method for driving
vactrols. this is the basic idea
used for the parasite pot replacements. the notes
at the bottom of the image should cover most of your
questions

the
Amber Press
this is a heavily modified orange
squeezer redesigned to run at line level and
now includes attack, release, threshold, ratio,
input volume, output volume and bias controls.
the power can also now be run from any DC source
up to a single +44vdc or +/-22v bipolar depending
on the IC you use ( check the datasheet) the IC
can be substituted with any of the usual options
TL072, 4558, etc... and they should all a slightly
different sound. the attack does not have a huge
range but other then that it came out quite nice.
the original OS was a very dark preset feedback
compressor that was designed for sustain and a
tiny bit of attack control for guitar. with the
new version i cleaned it up tremendously and made
it a lot more transparent and reactive, though
it still has a lot of character. if you would like
to darken in back up all you have to do is increase
the size of C1 to taste, maybe add a few caps on
switches so you can have more options, 100n and
1u are good starting points - bleak version on
the way.

Blast
Fed Disaster
here is an elaboration
on Forrest
M. Mims III's stepped tone generator, which
has also been refered to as an "Atari Punk Console". my version
has a little more potential for sound creation, from
quantized synth notes to harsh variable digital
static. a total of 7 knobs, a hand full of switches
and two control voltage ( marked CV ) inputs.
quick samples from the
breadboard ::: sample ::: sample ::: sample :::
Blast Fed Disaster - speaker
this is the speaker driven output version for those
that want to build a standalone version. notice the
10u output cap C3 is flipped and that the + side
of the speaker is attached to the positive voltage
supply - untested -

TLLYWCKR
i'm sure this has been
done a lot in the past but i've never seen it myself.
this is an incredibly simple manual control voltage
source that you can use with any control voltage
input. especially handy for testing purposes. also
gave it the stupidest name i could think of, enjoy.
i should point out that
anyone that wants to use a normal passive expression
pedal to generate CV can use this layout and just
build a little box with the pot in the diagram replaced
by the tip ring and sleeve of the exp pedal. as
simple as can be

analog
resonant low pass filter
everyone keeps asking me for this so here it is,
but i'm not going to give you the values of the
components so DON'T ASK. i had to find them myself,
so do you, that is the fun part!!! this was one
of thee most rewarding projects i ever worked on,
once you really figure out how a sullen key low
pass works it will open you up to so much more.
stop bitching…. teach a man to fish and
all that………
power is set up for bipolar, first cap is just
for AC coupling and can be around 100n doesn’t
really matter too much, first pull down res is
the impedance and should be around 100k in most
cases, any op amp should work fine, different values
for the rest will give you different ranges and
flavors, experimentation is king

MIMEO
yes this is the basis
of the MIMEO. i'm
posting this because i want designers to have access
to it. i don’t feel right keeping it all
to myself. if you do use it or work with it at
all i'd like to hear about it. the values can be
anything.

fabecho
mods
the notes in the image
show the 3 resistors you should remove to actually
open up the functionality and sound of the fab
echo. you don't have to do them all though. as
noted there are several more mods/bends that are
possible but you will have to hunt around for those
yourself

AC
to DC bipolar
board layout for a bipolar
12V DC output from a 15V AC power supply. this
can be altered to supply 9V as well by replacing
the regulators with a 7809 and a 7909. many other
voltages are possible too. based on a design found here
